Four Days ago on the evening I went to 9GAG and saw a post about a successful launch of Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon Heavy. I realized it was not so late, so search on Youtube and find the live video, but just to found out it's already a replay. I watched it and got goose bumps on my arms when I saw the two boosters landed smoothly, just like in some scifi movies, it was awesome. I can imagine what were people anticipating when watch that video on live, it must have been a thrill. I closed Youtube and began to research images and dimension data to begin design that rocket. I found an image about Falcon Heavy size comparison with some famous rockets and a Saturn V rocket. I already made Saturn V in 1/300, so I use Saturn V scale to be use on Falcon Heavy. The template is best to be printed on 100 to 120 gram paper. Because the model is small I reduce some details, the real one has 27 individual cone exhausts, with 9 exhaust each rocket, but in this 1/300 I had to simplify it. All the build photos were made using 100 gram HVS paper. You can have 1/00 model for $5 that you can buy on the link below. I also made a slideshow video on Youtube. like and subscribe please :).

It's time to space themed papermodel again, this time I made a space probe from Nasa's New Frontiers Program. It is literally going to explore a void that no one has gone before. The spacecraft was launched on 2006 and reached Pluto on 2015 and now it is still going further to explore new Kuiper Belt's objects. Perhaps you have seen a closed up photo of Pluto, it was shot by this probe. The papermodel is modeled in 1:10 scale.

I had a space shuttle pencil sharpener when I was a kid, it was a die-cast metal with bronze color. I love it so much but I don't know where it is now. I want to make a paper model of a space shuttle subject for so long, but only now I have the chance to make it happen. So here it is, a 1:150 scale paper model of a Atlantis space shuttle STS-135. I choose Atlantis because it was the last orbiter that ended NASA space shuttle program. Atlantis completed its last mission and last flight on July 21, 2011. The paper model is using mixed of glue tabs style, conventional glue tabs and separate glue tabs for smooth seams. If you're new to this kind of method you can learn about separate glue tabs on Airliner category. This model is quite simple if compare to other templates with the same subject on the net. The complete model will have about 40 cm or 15.8 inches in height. I challenge you to add your own custom details :), have fun with it.

Actually this scale model was not in my plans. I stumbled upon its picture when I browse for Philae lander spacecraft pictures. I think this would be a good model if I make a paper model template. According to the data that I read in a website, this ranger spacecraft is 54 meters long. I made a model with 27 cm long, so the scale is about 1: 200. This spacecraft is appear on the latest science fiction movie Interstellar. It can accommodate 4 crews plus 1 robot. The director of the movie, Christopher Nolan demanded the use of 3d printed miniature models of this ship rather than CG model in his movie. He also use real scene and environment and 1:1 spacecraft model. This movie was praised among scientists and science fiction fans around the world.

I feel excited when I read that scientists from European and US managed to land a lander on the surface of a comet that was currently wandering the space in 135,000 km/h speed. The comet is named 67P. It took 10 years (2004-2014) to intercept this comet before the mothership Rosetta finally managed to release the Philae lander to the comet's surface. Mothership Rosetta continues to orbit the comet until now. Before it's entering hibernation mode, its sensor could detect the presence of organism molecules and took some pictures. Currently Philae is not in operation. They said we have to be patient until August 2015 when the surface which comet lander sits is facing the sun, so that its solar panels can provide the power back and continue to explore the comet surface. The paper model is consist of 4 pages of patterns. You will need 2 types of paper to build this, a plain one about 100-160 gsm and 3 mm thick cardboard. The scale of this Philae lander model is about 1:10.
