It began when my highschool friend asked me how to buy or make a clone trooper Commander Deviss armor. Then I began to search Deviss images on Google and stumbled upon on Iron Man War Machine action figure. I thought both are awesome if I can manage to make them into paper model, but still I can't do it both in the same time. To decide which one is first I made a poll on Paper Replika Facebook page and the responds were majority voted for War Machine. Inspired by Korean Gundam paper model designers that mostly are using colored paper for their build, I also made this War Machine paper model with blank templates, so that they can be printed in dark grey and silver metallic colored paper. The modeling process is a bit longer from usual because I decided to make this 1/6 scale (12 inch - 31 cm) action figure to be pose-able. It's too long so I thought it better be quite detailed and I add a face inside the mask. I plan to release it in 4 parts, first in this release : torso and head, second : gun and arms, third : waist and hip and the last are leg parts. The face can be customized with your own face, this is how to do it.
Roll part 15, and use paper and roll wrap around it and glue to reinforce the part, because this parts will be housing moveable part, so it must stiff and hard. You can use power glue (instant hard glue) to make it more stiff and faster to cured
Assembly the main torso part (3), attach part 9,10,29 in the last. Reinforce part 10 with 1 mm card board (51). Reinforce part 11 and 13 with also 1 mm carboard (50). Do the same with part 29 as part 15, and make it stiff.
When assembly part 27 and 24 don't forget to attach part 48
Yellow dot means fold it and glue the flap to the itself back, don't score the fold lines. The function is to add thickness
Attach part 42 first before attaching part 23. You can choose the visor color, red or black. Double part 7 and 8 to add thickness.
You can replace James Rhodes face with your own face in this tutorial.
