New Horizons Space Probe Papermodel

E-mail Print

It's time to space themed papermodel again, this time I made a space probe from Nasa's New Frontiers Program. It is literally going to explore a void that no one has gone before. The spacecraft was launched on 2006 and reached Pluto on 2015 and now it is still going further to explore new Kuiper Belt's objects. Perhaps you have seen a closed up photo of Pluto, it was shot by this probe. The papermodel is modeled in 1:10 scale, you can download the probe model for free. You also can buy the full version which is include the display stand for $5.

Atlantis Space Shuttle Paper Model

E-mail Print

I had a space shuttle pencil sharpener when I was a kid, it was a die-cast metal with bronze color. I love it so much but I don't know where it is now. I want to make a paper model of a space shuttle subject for so long, but only now I have the chance to make it happen. So here it is, a 1:150 scale paper model of a Atlantis space shuttle STS-135. I choose Atlantis because it was the last orbiter that ended NASA space shuttle program. Atlantis completed its last mission and last flight on July 21, 2011. The paper model is using mixed of glue tabs style, conventional glue tabs and separate glue tabs for smooth seams. If you're new to this kind of method you can learn about separate glue tabs on Airliner category. This model is quite simple if compare to other templates with the same subject on the net. The complete model will have about 40 cm or 15.8 inches in height. I challenge you to add your own custom details :), have fun with it.

Rosetta Philae Comet Lander Paper Model

E-mail Print

I feel excited when I read that scientists from European and US managed to land a lander on the surface of a comet that was currently wandering the space in 135,000 km/h speed. The comet is named 67P. It took 10 years (2004-2014) to intercept this comet before the mothership Rosetta finally managed to release the Philae lander to the comet's surface. Mothership Rosetta continues to orbit the comet until now. Before it's entering hibernation mode, its sensor could detect the presence of organism molecules and took some pictures. Currently Philae is not in operation. They said we have to be patient until August 2015 when the surface which comet lander sits is facing the sun, so that its solar panels can provide the power back and continue to explore the comet surface. The paper model is consist of 4 pages of patterns. You will need 2 types of paper to build this, a plain one about 100-160 gsm and 3 mm thick cardboard. The scale of this Philae lander model is about 1:10.
