P-51D Mustang - Was That Too Fast

E-mail Print

Another recolor version, this time is P-51D Mustang. It's from Korean War era (1950-1953). P-51D Mustang was still use by US Air Force in the Korean war as a close air support, with bombs and rockets. This war-horse FF-943 "Was That Too Fast" was stationed at Chinhae Airfield from 1951, it was one of 18th Fighter Bomber Group. In 90s I remember playing a aircraft simulator PC game, titled "Chuck Yeager - Air Combat" and I was playing in the Korean theater using P-51D Mustang against Mig-15 jet fighter, then P-51D was replaced with F-86 Sabre in the next missions. I added additional patterns on the page 6, those are patterns for bombs and rockets.

Piper PA-47 PiperJet Papermodel

E-mail Print

Usually I build the RC plane first and then later I release the papermodel version of it, but often I became lazy and it never happened. So this time I made the paper version first. This model is a single engine very small corporate jet from Piper Aircraft Inc, a PiperJet. I found this plane very beautiful and I want to make an RC plane of it. I love their Cherokee, I already made an RC of it and it flew so good very easy to handle. Sadly this Piper PA-47 PiperJet never went into production, the project ended after they made a prototype and first flew on 2008. They even redesigned the PiperJet and then came PiperJet Altaire, but once again they cancel it due to economic conditions on 2011. I made this papermodel in 1/33 scale, the model will have 40 cm or 16 inches wingspan.

F4U Corsair Aircraft Paper Model

E-mail Print

This F4U Corsair paper model template is one of my design that was derived from my foam RC plane plans. I made a 1:8 scale model of this aircraft that can really fly made out of depron foam. Many friends wanted a paper model version of it so I made this. Designing paper model template is pretty similar with designing plans for my RC plane, but making paper model template is a lot harder. In paper model you still need to add color while in RC plane you can apply color with paint. The scale of this template is 1:33, the same scale as my previous P51D Mustang. The reason I make this template is Corsair is a beautiful and unique plane. I already fan this plane since I was a kid, there was a TV series titled "Black Sheep Squadron" back in 80s. I love watching that show on every Sunday at noon. The show was made from the real history. That squadron is lead by Major Pappy Boyington and based on an airstrip in one of the pacific island. While the livery I choose for this paper model is based on carrier and one of the "Jolly Rogers Squadron". You may look it familiar, the look is pretty similar to "Skipper", a character from Disney Planes animated movie, it's because Skipper and his Squadron, the Jolly Wrenches is a parody from the real Jolly Rogers Squadron. Number 29 is piloted by Lt. Ira Cassius "Ike" Kepford, an ace pilot with 16 confirmed kills on Japanese aircraft.
