The fantasy of a flying house was born out from director Pete Docter's thoughts about escaping from life when it becomes too irritating. In 1939, Carl Fredricksen is a shy 8-year-old boy who meets an outgoing and rather eccentric girl named Ellie and discovers they share the same interest in adventures as their hero, famed explorer Charles Muntz. Ellie expresses her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls in South America, a promise she makes Carl swear to keep. Years pass, and Carl and Ellie marry and grow old together in the old house where they first met while making a living as a toy balloon vendor and a zookeeper respectively.

Unable to have children, they also try to save up for the trip to Paradise Falls but other financial obligations arise. Just as they finally seem to be able to take their trip, Ellie dies of old age, leaving Carl living by himself, becoming sour and missing his wife terribly. As the years pass, the city grows around Carl's house with construction as he refuses to move. After a tussle with a construction worker over his broken mailbox, the court orders Carl to move into Shady Oaks Retirement Home.
Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie, and uses his old professional supplies to create a makeshift airship using 10,000 helium balloons which lift his house off its foundations. Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final merit badge for "Assisting the Elderly", has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe hunt by Carl the day before.[Wikipedia]

But he's only 10 and he would need the assembly instructions to build Carl's House... but I couldn't find them anywhere! Maybe I'm just dumb... but where are the assembly instructions, please?

2009-12-06 07:38:43 |Registered| Greg Thompson - Gingerbread Carl's HouseYour photos and drawings were very helpful in the construction of my gingerbread version of Carl's House from Pixar's UP. I built the house for the annual Big Brother's Big Sisters of Douglas County gingerbread auction to help support the organization. The auction will be held in Lawrence, KS on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at the Eldridge Extended hotel. You can see photos of Carl's gingerbread house here: http://www.searchlawrence.com/Gingerbread_Pixars_Up_Carls_House.php

Pieces 10-19 are definitely the most challenging part. P.6 goes between 4 and 20. P.7 goes between 21 and 22. Pieces 14 form the base of the front and back steps. Glue them on 1 and 2 and then glue the steps (8,9 and 19) in them. 9 is the lowest step in the front with the spot for the basis of the rail, which is piece 13. Piece 12 is the rail, and should be glued to 11 and 13. I think it's easier if you glue the porch "fence" (p. 10,11,15-1
to the porch (p. 3) first, then glue 3 on 1, make the staircases (p. 8,9,12-14 on p.1, and p.14,19 on p. 2).
Note that P. 25 is folded "backwards" to form the inside of the chimney. Finally, P. 34 are supports for the inside of the roof and shoud go between p.30 and 31 (they fit right next to the "middle borders" were the other pieces of roof will be).
